What is milk pasteurization? Why is it good for me?
Pasteurization is a process that heats fresh milk to a specific temperature for a set time to kill harmful bacteria, making it safe to drink. This process typically involves heating milk to at least 72°C (162°F) for 15 seconds, followed by rapid cooling. Pasteurization extends shelf life and prevents foodborne illnesses by eliminating pathogens like Salmonella and Listeria. Moreover, pasteurization does not significantly reduce the nutritional value of milk, hence retaining its nutrients and goodness.
